Knowledge Production

Community-led stories that challenge erasure.

About the Program

SEEN’s Knowledge Production Program is grounded in the belief that knowledge is never neutral.
Dominant narratives about Syrian society—particularly queer communities—are often produced outside their social and historical context, using frameworks that fail to reflect lived realities or actual community needs.

This program works to deconstruct these narratives and rebuild knowledge from the ground up, centering local experiences and community voices. It focuses on both tangible and intangible histories, critically analyzes structural challenges, and makes knowledge accessible in diverse formats for broader audiences.

Program Projects

Publications, policy papers, research outputs, legal guides, and capacity-building resources, alongside diverse knowledge productions in written, visual, and audio formats.
This program creates a grassroots space for producing Syrian queer knowledge rooted in lived experience. It approaches Syrian social realities through a liberatory, non-colonial lens, documenting, analyzing, and sharing knowledge with wider audiences.
